I've taken a bit of a break from ICLW but am excited to rejoin this month. Here's my brief story and where I am:
- Been trying for almost 3 years, 3 IUIs resulting in 2 miscarriages at 5 1/2 weeks and latest was fibroid surgery in August
- Had been feeling very low emotionally with a 3 year ttc milestone looming as well as a 1 year milestone from 1st miscarriage around Thanksgiving
- Discussions with husband ongoing about trying naturally, no drug fertility treatments and/or adoption
- Sought support group & counseling, which seems to be helping
- Feeling better in general - want to approach this as life is bigger than this, while of course feeling the absence in our lives...
Happy ICLW! I am glad you are feeling a little better!
ReplyDeleteHappy ICLW to you too, it's my first one :) Also first visit to your blog. I'm glad you are looking at life positively. We actually chose adoption as soon as we found out we had fertility problems and part of me still wonders what would/could have happened if we tried (though I do not in any way regret the two incredible sons who joined our family via adoption!). I wish you well in taking your next step, whichever step you choose :)
ReplyDeleteAlthough I've been following ur blog for a few months now, I always get surprised at how many others are journeying in similar ways as I am. I can echo each of your 5 bulletpoints in one way or another. The last one about making life bigger than the contents of our uterus....I wholeheartedly agree.
ReplyDeleteVisiting for ICLW - hi!
ReplyDeleteI also spent the past few months in a very depressed emotional state, which was only partially healed by a miracle BFP on our 5th - and final - IVF cycle. All I can say is that there are other people out here in bloggy land who understand exactly how you're feeling...and wish nothing but the best for each and every TTCer.
Hugs!
Jeannine
What a tough, tough journey you have been on. It's all so unfair.

Reaching out for support definitely helps. If you can find a psychologist who specializes in fertility in your area I would definitely recommend it. Looking forward to following along!
ReplyDeleteHappy ICLW! I agree with your last point. It's quit comforting to allow yourself to realize that life is better than this, although it's a point you'll have to remind yourself of daily. Good luck in your future endeavors! :)
ReplyDeleteHello! Just thought I'd stop by for ICLW. It sounds like it's been a really rough road for you and I'm so glad to read that you are taking steps towards seeing your life beyond IF. There is so much out there, but also so much within us that infertility cannot rob us of. I'm working hard on that too :)
ReplyDeleteTake care,
Augusta (#18 on this month's list)
*hugs* you have been through so much. I'm wishing you all the best for your upcoming journey, whichever route it takes you!

I had fibroid removal surgery last december (they removed 10). We managed to get pg once the recovery period was over as we were preparing for IVF #2. All the best with your recovery!

You're right! Life is bigger than this! You're not on this world for just procreating! Good luck in trying naturally! Glad to see you decided to join ICLW this month! (#72 & 106)
ReplyDeleteJust wanted to say Hi and let you know that you are never far from my thoughts. Sending you a hug, too!
