What Do YOU See in the Mirror?

This post from the 2009 Creme de la Creme list by If You Only Knew made me reflect & inspired me to pose the question to myself and to you:

We all feel changed by infertility - some on the outside (weight gain anyone?), most on the inside (hope/hopelessness, anger, frustration, sadness, jealousy, shall I keep going?).

So, yes, I've been affected by all of that and more. So, what's looking back at me?

  • loving wife
  •  caring daughter-sister-aunt-friend (Infertile Mind has inspired me to be a better aunt! read her, she's inspiring in many ways!)
  • good at my HR job
  • great manager
  • enjoy athleticism (running, swimming, biking, hiking especially)
  • gotten into hot yoga (not good at it, but makes me feel good!)
  • committed to Weight Watchers again (did it in 2001) (and have lost 7 lbs so far... just 5 more to go - those creepy 12 lbs post-marriage, post bcp weight)
  • lover of great writers and books that you stay up too late to read
  • love all things cheesy & sappy (Delilah anyone?)
  • love to laugh
  • like being creative but isn't necessarily so!
  • love, love, love random acts of kindnesses
What do you see?

  1. Honestly, what I see depends on the day. Sometimes I see a strong woman. Sometimes I see a weak woman. Sometimes I see a fighter. Sometimes I see defeat.

The things you see in the mirror all sound good. :) As a fellow reader, I'm dying to know-what kinds of books do you love?

  2. Loved this post, what a positive way to look at the other aspects of your life. I think when trying to cope with IF it becomes so all consuming for us at times, this is a great way to remember the other things that make us the people we are!
Also, another blogger who has a very tragic & courageous story started this facebook group called March 9th - Random Acts of Kindness Day...check it out!

  3. Hmm what I see definitely depends on what day of the week it is! Good on you for recommitting to WW - I've been off it for so long I really should do the same!

  5. Great post! Love your list. I love reading too, and random acts of kindness - wonderful! I joined WW at Work in January and have lost 7 pounds too. Just about 8 more to go. I gained so much with TTC, it was amazing. I just always thought I'd be in maternity clothes soon. ;)
    Hugs!

  6. OMG! I gained the same 12 pounds after I got married and am in the process of trying to lose them. I never knew it was mandatory to gain 12 pounds once I put a ring on my finger. Why wasn't I tipped off earlier about this? Lol! -2 lbs, 10 lbs left, but would be happy if I just lost 8 more, too.

    Happy ICLW!

  7. Wow - what a great find in that post and I also loved your list. I'm a huge fan of reading, too, and random acts of kindness.

Thanks for the random act of kindness of mentioning my blog, too. I have so enjoyed your "visits" and now I have a new place to visit, too. :)

  10. Excellent post. And we share in some of those points, particularly the reading. Who doesn't love to stay up a little (or a lot) too late with a book you just can't put down? Gets me through some of the awful waiting that comes along with IF and treatments.

    Best luck to you!
